Rene van den Assem's 15mm Undead

Some time ago a couple of friends from the wargame group persuaded me to join in a fantasy campaign using the Vis Magica rules. So there I was at this show in Germany having just been persuaded (told to join or leave the club was more the credo!) with no clue whatsoever to buy. The guy behind the counter (I don't even remember the shops name) happily obliged in advising me on its contents and before I knew it he gave me a massive discount and there I stood with much more metal then I ever would have bought out of free will.

The army is heavily based on skeletons, so you will not find ghosts, ghouls and vampires in my army. Just plain bones and a little flesh here and there.

The core of the army is made up of a large number (8,000-11,000) of close order foot and some close order cavalry (3,600-4,800). Depending on the adversary I can use either of them as the center of my army. For a much needed missile shield I have a large number of zombies at my disposal which can either be placed in the center or on one or two of the flanks. And although they are plain rubbish they do install some kind of fear in my opponent when he sees 7,000 to 10,000 zombies on his flank or in front of his main strike force. A nasty punch is made up in the form of a regiment of Bone Giants (120-160) which instills even more awe when they get into contact. The foot guards are a small detachments of between 1,600 and 2,200 skeletons in heavy armour. There are rumours that some mounted guards have recently been risen above ground level but those are just well .... rumours.

In its first and until now only battle (well skirmish really) it tested out some pansy wood elves. You now those cowards that just stand in the tree line blasting away with their tiny bows. Of course I let them have the impression that they won but it was just so my necromancer would be able to "recruit" some bow elves into the army since distance weapons is one item that is lacking from this hand to hand combat orientated army.
