Eastern Free Company

or Border Kingdom

From Robert E. Howard's Conan Novels

.

Hyboria is the setting for Robert E. Howard’s Conan novels. The stories revolve around the struggles of the men in the various nations around this world with most of the action centred on the Hyborian kingdoms.

In these nations you can see echoes of our own world and it provides the perfect backdrop for an ancients campaign as it did in those seminal years for wargaming of the 1970s as Tony Bath, Donald Featherstone, Phil Barker and others fought many battles over this very landscape. Modern ancients wargamers owe a great deal to Tony Bath’s Hyborian Campaign as legend has it the first WRG ancients rules came about because of it.

  • If used as an Eastern Border Kingdom, then one base of Cavalry may be upgraded to Knights at a cost of +4 points to represent the petty rulers of the Kingdom.
